The water comes first

At Atlas Surf Morocco , your level decides the beach you surf, the group you join and what your coach works on next.

We're not a party hostel, and there's no programme you have to join. Out of the water the time is yours. Take a yoga class on the terrace, hike Paradise Valley on the rest day, or do nothing at all.

  • Coached by level

Each session has one goal, and your coach goes through the filmed sessions with you after dinner. We split groups by level, so each lesson fits the people in it.

  • Guides who know this coast

They pick each day's spot from the swell, wind and tide, anywhere from Tamri to Tifnit.

  • Small on purpose

Few enough guests that the whole house eats dinner together.

A day at Atlas Surf Morocco

A typical coached day. Times follow the tide and can shift by up to two hours.

  1. Two surfers in wetsuits carry their boards across a pebbly beach toward the waves, with a row of soft-top boards lying on the sand in the foreground.

    09:00

    Briefing, then the water

Your coach reads the swell, wind and tide, picks the beach for your level and sets one goal. Then two hours in the water.

  2. A silver teapot and a glass of tea on a round tray, set on a black-and-white tiled table above a beach where people are swimming in the surf.

    12:30

    Lunch and a second session

Lunch at the spot, then a supervised second session or a rest in the shade.

  3. A woman in a loose shirt and leggings reaches into a side stretch on dark rocks at the water's edge, backlit by a low sun over breaking surf

    17:30

    Sunset yoga on the terrace

75 minutes for the hips and shoulders that paddling wore out. Included in Surf & Yoga, €12 for everyone else.

  4. Six clay tagines cooking on flat rocks beside an open fire in low evening sun, with a cluster of tea glasses at the top left

    20:00

    Dinner and tomorrow's plan

Moroccan dinner, then your coach tells you where and when you surf tomorrow.

Before you book

Which week fits my level?

  • Never surfed. Learn to Surf, even with a few lessons behind you.
  • Standing up in whitewater. Intermediate Surf, usually after 1 to 3 surf weeks.
  • Riding green waves alone. Surf Guiding, usually after a year or more of regular surfing.

Not sure? Tell us what you can already do when you send your dates, and we'll suggest a week. The level guide lists what each level can do.

Which languages do the coaches teach in?

English, French, Arabic and Tamazight.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. From the first lesson you surf in a group at your level, and most nights the whole house eats dinner together.

What if the waves are flat or too big?

Your coach picks the beach each morning from the swell, wind and tide. When the bay is flat, we drive north to Tamri, which usually still has waves. When it's too big for your level, your coach finds a more sheltered beach or moves the session.

We don't refund days lost to flat or unsafe seas.

What's not included?
